With great sadness and respect, the shareholders announce that Joseph P. Milton died Sunday, December 4th following complications from a longstanding heart problem.

Throughout a career spanning 42 years, Joe Milton set a standard for trial lawyers that was characterized by intense advocacy for his clients, an outspoken commitment to the right of trial by jury and the ideal that zealous advocacy should never be mistaken for unethical or unprofessional conduct.

He won much recognition for his service to the profession, but his greatest service was to his family, his clients and his partners.

We will miss his passion for the practice of law, his impatience with apathy and his sense of humor.

We will not, however, forget the example he set. We will carry it forward in his honor.
